Personally I have tools from all the venders I like MAC ratchets but Snap-On sockets and wrenches, I'm also VERY fond of Hazzet tools, they were the OEM tool supplier for MB (may still be) and I think they make the best allen sockets (again, just my opinion. Cost me $300 in 1987 and held the tools just as well as the $1500 boxes my buddies all had.Īs for tools, buy what you like and what feels right to you. My air tools and cordless tools are all MATCO, and with the exception of my brand new 3/8 impact that is a total piece of shit, I have been very happy with all of their stuff. My 3/8 socket is the 88 tooth MATCO, and I love it, but mostly everything else (Breaker bars, wrenches, various pliers and screwdrivers) all craftsman, champion, husky, etc. All of my impact sockets are Grey Pneumatic.no issue there either. My chrome sockets (5mm 1/4 inch all the way through 22mm 1/2 inch) are entirely craftsman, and the only issue that I have with them, is that I keep loosing them. I buy the cheap stuff first, when it breaks, I replace it with the more expensive stuff. I am a full time professional mechanic at a dealership.here is my phillosphy. The SNAP-ON is smooth on the handle part but has an edge around the heads. The MAC is the thickest and has sharp edges even on the handle which is uncomfortable at times. You can see the MATCO is a lot smoother than the other two. Ever since then I've been accumulating MATCO stuff and selling my used SNAP-ON and MAC goods.Īnyways I decided to post some pics showing wrenches from the leading 3 brands(in quality) to show a comparison. I have a small orange handle 1/4" MATCO ratchet that's fine tooth and its the best damn tool i've ever used. I personally like MATCO's build quality in the tools. Was sorting out the tools and was wondering what brand do you guys trust more.
